About the Maker
Clementine Neild is a multi-disciplinary illustrator working across traditional printmaking and oil painting techniques, and digital media to create thoughtful images full of movement and energy.
Fascinated by Far Eastern and African art since she was a child, Clementine's work gathers together a range of influences, be it cultural or technical, and is deeply personal in tone and subject matter. She describes her style as technical, messy, expressive and detailed, with etching, aquatint and other intaglio print techniques as her skills of choice. "I like the element of surprise that comes from working straight onto a plate or board without initial drawings. I can see the image in my mind and I'm always fascinated by how this is translated by my hands. I never under estimate how beautiful simple marks or mistakes can be."
