About the Maker
Martin has worked as a jewellery designer and manufacturer for many years making jewellery, silverware, medallions and awards for individuals, exhibitions, companies, with pieces in national collections, including Victoria and Albert Museum, The National Museum of Scotland, Nottingham Castle Museum and The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths
My starting points are varied from drawings creating designs through experimentation and models to the final pieces. I work often with the combination of gold inlayed into silver I rarely polish so my pieces retain an authentic textured finish. "Making jewellery is part of my need to make things. Inspiration arrives in many ways, from seeing interesting forms in a book or gallery, the shape of a stone or just playing with the materials or a particular making technique. Always with the creative intention to be innovative and different."
