About the Maker

Sarah's passion for jewellery, making things out of metal and collecting tools led her to two-years' training with Anna Pope at Camborne College and then at Krowji, Redruth. Since then, she has been mainly working and experimenting at home in her studio near Falmouth. An interest in specific techniques led Sarah to further one-to-one training with Nicola Bottono.

Process

Sarah constructs her pieces from silver, copper, gold, sea glass and pebbles. Sarah particularly likes the process of reticulation, enabling the creation of unique textures, producing a ridged surface through repeated controlled heating, cooling and pickling the silver, incorporating a piece of sea glass or a pebble in the finished piece.

"The encouragement from my mentors, the beauty of nature I see on my walks with my dog Franc, and working metal with hand tools is what inspires me."
