About the Maker
Lesley is a Falmouth based printmaker whose work is a pared-back exploration of unfamiliar perspectives, scale, pattern and abstraction found in nature. She draws, etches, prints and photographs. Since 2013 she has made a series of square screen-prints based on abstracted Cornish fauna that explore both colour combinations and negative and positive space. They have a graphic finish and clarity that makes them both contemporary and reminiscent of the 1970’s.
All Lesley’s prints are made with hand cut stencils, hand pulled and in a unique range of colours. There are a maximum of 15 prints in each edition on archival paper. Signed on the reverse so the image can be framed on any edge. “Printmaking encourages endless exploration and experimentation; it meets my need to be both spontaneous and in control. My screen-prints are intended o be a joyful collision of shape and colour with more than a nod to Matisse.”
